Robert Sean Leonard was born in Westwood but brought up in Ridgewood, New Jersey. He studied at the Ridgewood High School and later moved on to Fordham University for further studies. After this he attended the Columbia University’s School of General Studies and Continuing Education.

During their growing up years, actor Casper Van Dien and Robert lived in the same block and even raced with each other in go-carts. Since his birth name is same as that of another actor, Robert uses his brother, Sean’s name, as his middle name. He shares a good friendship with his co-star Hugh Laurie.

Robert is married to a professional horse racer and a former Executive Director of the West Coast Active Riders, Gabriella Salick, since August 2008. The couple welcomed their first daughter Eleanor, into the world in January 2009.Robert is hoping of going back to New York after finishing his current assignments, where he plans to do more plays.

Robert is one of those actors who has on a number of occasions, been deprived of the much deserved acknowledgment and fame. He is passionate about working in theatre and has done plays like The Invention of Love and Romeo and Juliet at the Riverside Shakespeare Company, to name just a few.

He started his acting career in 1986, with the movie The Manhattan Project. He then went on to appear in numerous other movies including Mr. & Mrs. Bridge, Much Ado About Nothing, Safe Passage, Killer: A Journal of Murder, Ground Control, Driven, The I Inside, and many more.

Robert’s first television appearance was for the show My Two Loves in 1986. Since then he has portrayed various other characters in numerous other shows including The Boys Next Door, Wasteland, The Outer Limits, A Painted House, and House MD etc.

Besides being nominated for the prestigious Tony Award twice in 1993 and 2003, and winning the award in 2001, Robert has been nominated for two other awards. In 2009, Robert along with his co-stars was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award under the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, for House MD. He was jointly nominated with his co-actors for the Young Artist Award under the category of Outstanding Youth Ensemble in a Motion Picture, for Swing Kids, in 1994.

 

Role In House MD Tv Show

In House MD, Robert plays the role of Dr. James Wilson, the department head of Oncology. He is the best friend of Dr. House and like him is much respected by his colleagues who also like him very much. The likeability amongst his colleagues and patients makes his friendship with Dr. House, an issue of debate amongst the other employees of the hospital. According to Wilson, the two things that matter the most to him are his job and his stupid and jumbled up friendship with Dr. House. He and Dr. Cuddy are often found trying to help and support Dr. House in his Vicodin addiction as well as his very unconventional methods of treatment.
